Classes for Toddlers and Preschoolers
Toddler Tunes
Ages 1.5 -3 years old
Toddler Tunes was developed specifically for the 1½ - 3-year-old student. Classes are completely experiential and focused on providing students with a joyful music-making program. You and your toddler will experience rhythms, finger plays, active movement games, keyboard exploration and singing. Students do not learn to play the piano at this age. Parents participate in class time and are guided in follow-up activities. Toddler class enrollment is open throughout the semester.
Classes meet 30 minutes weekly for 18-week semesters.
The Music in Me & More Music in Me
Ages 3.5-4 years old
The Music in Me and More Music in Me courses were developed for preschoolers, ages 3 - 4. Students experience music physically and develop musical understanding, pitch and rhythm awareness through singing, rhythm, movement, ear training and keyboard activities. They are introduced to music reading and writing and learn to track notes on the piano but are not taught to play at this age. Parents participate in class time and are guided in follow-up activities. Music in Me enrollment is open throughout the semester; More Music in Me is enrollment is open through week eight.
Classes meet 45 minutes weekly for 16-week semesters.
Classes for school-aged Children
HARMONY ROAD Books 1-4 - AGES 4½–6
THE YOUNG MUSICIAN Books 1-4 - AGES 6.5–8
KEYBOARD PREP Books 1-3 - AGES 8–11
Students are taught with age-appropriate strategies and have the same learning goals.
In all three learning tracts, students develop “inner hearing” and learn music through a combination of effective and enjoyable activities that include rhythm and movement, solfege and expressive singing, and ear training. They gain experience in solo and ensemble keyboard playing and develop an understanding of harmony and applied theory. In addition to learning to read, write and play music, they are introduced to improvising, composing and transposing. Parents participate in class time and are guided in follow-up activities.
Classes meet 55 minutes weekly for 18-week semesters.
The Harmony Road and Young Musician meet for four semesters, one book/level per semester.*
Keyboard Prep meets for three.
*When registering, families commit to one semester at a time. Families can decide after completing a semester if they would like to continue to the next book/level.

Not sure if you are ready to commit to a full semester of classes? Try an introductory class to see what we are all about. Introductory classes are just 4 weekly or twice-weekly sessions. You and your child will be introduced to singing, movement, note and rhythm reading, finger readiness, and piano activities. This experience provides a strong readiness for future learning. Your teacher will evaluate your student and recommend the appropriate class for continued musical learning at Heart Beats Music School. Parents participate in class.
