Heart Beats Music School is closed for the following holidays and scheduled breaks:
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Break
Winter Break
Spring Break (dates announced annually)
Memorial Day
One week during the summer (dates announced annually)
The annual studio calendar is published each year. Tuition is based on the full school-year schedule and is not adjusted for scheduled studio closures.
Tuition & Billing π³
Tuition is based on annual enrollment and is divided into 12 equal monthly payments for your convenience. Monthly tuition remains the same regardless of the number of lessons in a particular month.
Each school year includes 47 scheduled lessons and classes (43 private lessons and 4 quarterly Musicianship Classes).
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month through automatic billing.
Credit and debit card payments are subject to a convenience fee. There is no fee for ACH (bank account) payments.
Payments not received by the 10th will incur a late fee.
Accounts that remain unpaid after the 20th may have lessons suspended until the balance has been paid.
Tuition is reviewed annually. Any adjustments for the upcoming school year will be communicated before they take effect.
For our current tuition information, please see our Tuition and Fees page.
Attendance & Make-Up Lessons π
Make-up lessons are offered as a courtesy and are subject to teacher availability.
To be eligible for a make-up lesson, absences must be reported at least 24 hours in advance.
Students receive up to 2 make-up lesson credits per quarter (up to 4 credits during the summer quarter) for qualifying student absences.
Make-up lesson credits expire 90 days after the original missed lesson.
Teacher cancellations do not count toward your make-up lesson credit limit.
Students arriving late will receive the remaining scheduled lesson time.
Make-up lesson credits have no cash value and may not be exchanged for tuition credits or refunds.
Families are responsible for scheduling their own make-up lessons through the Student Portal.
Your available make-up lesson credits can be viewed at any time in the Student Portal.
Student Illness π€
To help keep our students, families, and teachers healthy, please keep your student home if they are ill.
Students who stay home from school due to illness, or who are sent home from school due to illness, may not attend music lessons that day.
Students should remain home if they have a fever of 100.4Β°For higher, and may return only after they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
If a student arrives visibly ill, Heart Beats Music School reserves the right to refuse or discontinue the lesson if, in our reasonable judgment, the student is too ill to participate comfortably or may expose others to illness. We will always use thoughtful discretion in these situations with the health of both the student and our school community in mind. Lessons ended or declined for this reason are not eligible for a make-up lesson.
The standard 24-hour notice requirement for make-up lesson eligibility still applies to illness-related absences.
We understand that illnesses and emergencies sometimes happen unexpectedly. Our teachers reserve this time specifically for your student, and we honor that commitment by compensating them for their scheduled lesson time. Providing an additional make-up lesson without the required notice would require the school to pay teachers for an additional lesson not covered by your tuition. Supporting our teachers in this way is one of the reasons we're able to attract and retain the exceptional educators who make Heart Beats Music School so special. Instead, your teacher will use your student's scheduled lesson time to provide personalized practice assignments, feedback, and resources to support meaningful progress until their next lesson.
Teacher Cancellations π©βπ«
If your teacher is unavailable for a scheduled lesson:
Heart Beats Music School may provide a qualified substitute teacher so lessons can continue as scheduled.
If a substitute teacher is not available, the school will arrange a make-up lesson.
If you choose not to attend a lesson with an assigned substitute teacher, the lesson will not be eligible for a make-up.
Teacher cancellations do not count toward your make-up lesson credit limit.

Enrollment Changes & Withdrawal π
Enrollment continues until written notice of withdrawal is received.
A minimum of 30 days' written notice is required to withdraw from lessons.
If notice is given mid-month, a final prorated tuition charge will be applied the following month to complete the required 30-day notice period.
You are welcome to attend any lessons scheduled during your 30-day notice period. If you choose not to attend, those lessons are forfeited and tuition remains due for the full notice period.
Any available make-up lesson credits must be used before your enrollment ends. Unused make-up lesson credits expire when enrollment is discontinued.
Registration fees are non-refundable at any time during the school year.
Heart Beats Music School reserves the right to discontinue enrollment when necessary.
Musicianship Classes πΌ
Musicianship Classes are a required part of the Heart Beats Music School curriculum and replace your student's regular private lesson during Musicianship Week.
Students are responsible for registering for a class through the Student Portal at least 48 hours before their desired class.
Missed Musicianship Classes do not receive a make-up lesson, except by attending another Musicianship Class during the same Musicianship Week.
Musicianship Classes may not be exchanged for a private lesson.
If only one student is enrolled in a class, Heart Beats Music School may offer an alternate class time, modify the class format, or convert the class to a private lesson of the student's regular lesson length. Families will be notified in advance of any changes.
Recitals & Performances π€
Recitals are a special and important part of the Heart Beats Music School experience. Students are expected to participate in school recitals as part of their music education.
Registration is required through the Student Portal by the published deadline.
Students should arrive on time and plan to remain for the entire recital whenever possible.
Performance attire, arrival times, and additional recital details will be communicated before each event.
