Flexible scheduling, creative workshops, fun school wide activities, and continued musical growth all summer long.
SUMMER FLEXIBILITY
We know summer schedules can look very different from the rest of the year — and we want to help families stay engaged while still leaving room for travel, camps, and family activities.
To help support summer scheduling needs, private lesson families may:
Accumulate up to 4 make-up credits during the summer quarter (June–August) instead of the usual 2.
Register for make-ups using the student portal calendar after letting us know about missed lessons.
Schedule fewer, longer lessons when appropriate (for example: 4x60-minute lessons instead of 8x30-minute lessons)
Continue using Zoom lessons and Zoom make-ups for all instruments
Use select summer workshops and labs as creative make-up options
If your family anticipates schedule changes this summer, we encourage you to reach out early. We’re often able to help families create flexible summer lesson plans that still allow students to maintain momentum and continue progressing.
WORKSHOPS
We’ll be offering several optional summer workshops designed to keep students engaged, build confidence, strengthen practice habits, and provide creative make-up opportunities throughout the summer.
Workshop registration takes place through the student portal. For workshops that offer both make-up and paid registration options, you will see separate listings for each. Please register for the version that matches how you would like to attend.
Sign-ups close 48 hours before each workshop so we can confirm minimum enrollment and notify families if a workshop will not proceed.
Practice Skills Workshops
Make-up option
These small-group workshops are designed to help students build stronger, more effective practice habits and become more independent musicians. Practice is a skill — just like reading music or playing an instrument — and students who learn how to practice well often progress more confidently and consistently.
Students may work on things like:
focus and consistency
problem-solving difficult passages
motivation and confidence at home
effective practice strategies
Workshops are instrument-specific. We encourage students to attend with their own teacher if schedules allow, though students may also attend workshops with other teachers of their instrument.

Planning for Fall
We know summer schedules can shift quite a bit, and we’re often able to help families find flexible options that allow students to continue progressing while still accommodating travel and other activities. If your family is considering a summer pause, we encourage you to reach out early so we can discuss possible solutions together.
Students who remain continuously enrolled through the summer will be included in our first round of priority fall scheduling. Because many teachers are nearing capacity, students who take a summer break may have more limited scheduling options when returning in the fall, and we may not be able to guarantee the same teacher, lesson time, or preferred schedule.
As always, private lessons require 30 days’ written notice for withdrawal.
